Terminology
The following terminology applies to these Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and any or all Agreements: "client", “you”, “your”, “user”, “users”, “member” “members”, “MC”, “MCs” and “visitors” refers to you, the person accessing this website. “Sahih Salaam”, "The Company", “Ourselves”, “We”, the “Website” and “Our” refers to Sahih Salaam Limited and all its affiliated brands or partners. “Party”, “Parties”, or “Us”, refers to both the user and ourselves.
Summary
At Sahih Salaam, we collect and manage user data according to the following Privacy Policy. We are registered under the UK Data Protection Act. We understand how important security it to you, so we try and uphold ourselves to the highest standards, but we can’t always get it right. The internet is an enormous space and can never be considered 100% secure all the time. If we do find a breach in our security, we will endeavour to do our best to deal with the problem.
To use our website, we ask you to provide us with personal information to give you a tailored service and find you the best possible partner. Examples of personal information includes your name, age, ethnicity and ethnic origin. We will never intentionally pass on this personal information to a third party. You’ve trusted us with your data and we fully intend to follow through with our promise.
Collection and Use of Information
Two types of personal information are gathered by us: personal and non-personal. Personal information relates to data that helps us identify you, the individual. Most of the time, but not always this will be explicitly provided by you, and for this reason you take sole responsibility for all the sensitive data you disclose.
We are clear: We don’t knowingly sell any data that would identify you. We only share data about you when it is necessary to provide our services, when the data is de-identified and aggregated, when you direct us to share it, or when required by law. Some examples of personal information we require you to provide are: full name, photo, date of birth, ethnicity, ethnic origin, home address, contact information, occupation, education, religion, hobbies, your partner preferences and financial information (to make and receive). So that we can provide you our service, and to deal with any information requests, queries or concerns you may have, a small number of authorised employees have access to this information, which will only be accessed if necessary. We will only use your financial information for the purpose of providing our services to you. To process your payments
in the most secure way possible, we use a payment service provider. We do not sell your financial information to any third parties. Sahih Salaam keep an audit of all changes, by users and employees to ensure that any unauthorised access can be traced and eliminate fraud or miss-use of sensitive information.
Some of your personal information is viewable by other members of Sahih Salaam. When you or any member is recommended to another member, that member can see basic details about you. Examples of personal information immediately viewable are your, name, age, religiousness and ethnicity. Other personal information such as your photo, contact details, education details and more are given only with your permission when you ‘Say Salaam’. When an MC sends you a personal recommendation, they need to make an informed decision about compatibility – how well-suited is this person to you? An MC can only do this if they are able to view all your personal information in order to make these recommendations as meaningful as possible. Therefore, they have access to all the information that makes up your personal profile. If an MC decides to make a recommendation, then without your permission, only some of that information will be viewable to their client until you choose to
explore further.
We use tracking software to monitor our visitors to better understand how they use our services. Any time you visit any of our websites, our software automatically gather information from your browser (such as your IP addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks) to analyse trends, administer the site, prevent fraud, track visitor movement, and gather broad demographic information. The software uses cookies: this works by saving a small text file to your computer to track and monitor your engagement and usage of the website. This allows us to know information about when members visit the website, the number of visitors to our website, where in the world members access our website from and other such trends. Where applicable, our website allows the visitor, on their first visit to the website, to allow or disallow the use of cookies on their computer / device. Visitors are advised
that if they wish to deny the use and saving of cookies from this website on to their computers hard drive they should take necessary steps within their web browsers security settings to block all cookies from this website and its external serving vendors.
Sahih Salaam may share aggregated, de-identified data that does not identify you with partners and the public in a variety of ways, such as in the form of research, reports, facts and statistics. We may occasionally conduct surveys where we voluntarily ask our members to share their experiences or answer questions. This is to help us improve the service we offer you and gain a better understanding of what our members want. The results from these surveys are aggregated and with this we may produce statistics and other data sets that are put into the public domain. Responses are anonymous and individual member data will not be shared unless we have your express permission to do so.
Sahih Salaam is not directed at persons under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect any information from members and visitors to our website that are under 16 years old. Complaint or Inappropriate Conduct Reporting
Should you want to file a complaint about another user, MC, employee or our Service, you can do this in several ways, as outlined below. We take all matters very seriously and encourage users to report any misconduct to Sahih Salaam immediately for further investigation. If you know that a users information is incorrect, please report that to Sahih Salaam, your MC and the users MC. If you are being approached inappropriately by an MC, report this to us for immediate action. No MC should recommend potential partners to you that are not on Sahih Salaam. If this happens, report it immediately. If you meet anyone that is not already a registered member of Sahih Salaam, we are not responsible for anything that happens as a result of your communication or meeting. No MC is allowed to out themselves to you as a suitable suitor as
this violates the trust between MC and user. Report any such advances to Sahih Salaam immediately.
Contact and Communication
Visitors and members contacting our website and/or its members do so at their own discretion and provide any such personal details requested at their own risk.
Whenever you contact Sahih Salaam for help, we collect your name and email address along with any additional information you provide in your request and store it. This is so that we can provide you with customer service and to improve the Sahih Salaam website. You can also contact Sahih Salaam through public forums such as Facebook, however, we cannot guarantee the privacy of your communication to us if you contact us through these channels.
Your profile section is a space for you to include any additional information that hasn’t already been captured in the mandatory questions that you would have answered at the start of registration. Any additional information that you disclose on the first page of your profile becomes information that all other members can view, so we advise that you exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personally identifiable information. Please take time to read our terms of use document for guidelines on the type of content that is permitted and not permitted. As well as members being able to report any content that they feel is inappropriate, we also periodically review members’ content and hold the right to modify or delete any content we feel breaches our terms of use policies.
You can opt-out of receiving weekly summaries, alerts or promotional emails by changing the notification preferences in your account settings.
Your right to access personal information
You can get a copy of the information we hold about you. Any subject access requests can be made by contacting us using the various ways stipulated in our Terms of Use document here. We will endeavour to respond to a subject access request promptly and in any event within 40 calendar days of receiving it. However, some types of personal data are exempt from the right of subject access and so cannot be obtained by making a subject access request.
We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our service, so this policy may change over time.
